Add New Contacts in Bulk
Account admins and program admins can add new contacts at any time by uploading a CSV file from the Programs tab.
Step 1: Create the CSV File

Start with a CSV file that includes the following required fields:
customer_id
first_name
last_name
group_list
phone

Assign groups
Each contact must be assigned to at least one group using the group_list column.
Any unique value in the group_list column is automatically created as a group during import. You can use these groups to assign counselor caseloads or send targeted messages.
To assign a contact to multiple groups, separate group names with a semicolon (
;).Group 1;Group 2

Add additional optional fields as needed.

timezone (recommended if contacts are in multiple time zones)
If no timezone is provided, contacts are assigned the program’s default timezone.

Any additional custom fields you’ve created in Message.

Save the file as a CSV.
Step 2: Import the CSV File into Message
In Message, select the Programs tab.
Select the Import Contacts tab.
Choose the appropriate program from the left-hand menu.

Click Upload File and upload your CSV file.
Check Import new contacts, and uncheck Update existing contacts.
Choose an error setting:
The default option imports the file only if no errors are found.
The alternate option runs the file even if errors occur and provides details on skipped rows and reasons.

Click Start Import.
Once the import is complete, a summary will display the number of updated contacts and any errors encountered.
