Logging messages to the Activity log

With Message for Salesforce, you can log incoming and outgoing messages to a record's activity log. Setting it up is simple and easy.

First, navigate to Programs - Settings and scroll down to find this option:

Once you toggle it on, you'll find these configuration settings:

Now you can set your preferred settings:

Log message as

This option determines what kind of entry in the Activity Log you want Message texts to be classified as.

Set Owner As

This is used if you want to assign a log entry to someone other than the Salesforce record Owner. This is an incredibly unusual need. If you need this setting, your implementation team will work with you to set the correct values.

Incoming Message Status

For tasks, you can set what status you want incoming messages to be set as.

 

That's it. Once these are set, Message will start recording entries in your activity log. Any existing messages will record to your log as well - backfilling everything so that you have a complete record within Salesforce.
