Q&A
Can we mass text using student id numbers? I found where we can manually enter each id number one by one but if I try to copy and paste a list of numbers it did not work.
You can send to a list of ID’s but they will need to be comma separated. You can use this article to change them from a list in excel to comma separated so that you can paste into Message https://message-support.moderncampus.com/hc/en-us/articles/20685925434637-How-do-I-message-a-list-of-contacts-from-a-csv-file
When we get into the messages -- it often goes to the top and we have to scroll all the way to the bottom to the most current message -- how do make that show the most current message
It should default to showing the most recent message, sorry you are not experiencing that! If you can open a message that causes that issue, then send support an email with the time you tried it, we can dig into the logs to check to see what may be happening. Thank you!!
I use this platform with Spanish speaking users, and it underlines almost every word as incorrect, is there a way to avoid that?
If you are seeing underlines, that may be a browser extension such as Grammarly. Modern Campus Message shouldn’t be adding that. You are welcome to email a screenshot of the message to our support team for us to try to replicate/confirm for you. The support team can be reached at message-support@moderncampus.com
Thank you!
Following my previous question, is there a way to add the letter ñ for Spanish words?
For special characters, we recommend pasting them in from another application such as Microsoft Word, or use a keyboard shortcut if you have that setup. Unfortunately, we don’t have a specific tool within the new message window to add special characters.
How do you create the groups?
Groups can be created by one of your program or account admins. If you would like to see a new group created, you will want to connect with one of them to see if that would work for the overall data structure.
Do you recommend using Bulk Message, Import_send field, or a custom field to query on for selection of target population?
It depends on how many folks you need to reach and if you want the ease of reusing that target multiple times in the future. If you are messaging fewer than 1000 contacts, you can use bulk message and drop in their ID numbers comma separated. Using import_send or another custom field makes it a little easier to resend a message in the future as you can use advanced search rather than pulling that list of IDs over again. Using import_send (or other field) also allows you to text more than 1000 folks at once. If you are using a pre-established group list (or messaging the entire program), you can text more than 1000 at once, you just can’t bring in a list of more than 1000 IDs.
One of the 13 contacts is marked as not active. Does that contact need to be activated before sending the message?
If they have opted out of texting, then they would not receive the message even though they meet the other criteria. You would not want to opt in a contact that was previously opted out. That person could always text back in “start” to be an active contact again. If creating a message with advanced search and you want to make sure the number of recipients is more accurate, you can also include a condition of active = TRUE.
I see funky spacing when I view my sent messages. Is it b/c my desktop view is different than what the recipients actually see when they get the message?
That is possible, it could also be a zoom setting. If you could send a screenshot to support (just make sure that any student name/info isn’t visible) we can take a look! Our email is message-support@moderncampus.com
